Description

So in DnD there's a fun guy called the Aboleth, I was asked by one of my DMs to do my own take on them - I can recommend reading a lil about them forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wik… / www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/167…

And just to give some context; DnD has a creature class called "Aberrations" which can be compared to things that exist outside of the natural ecosystem similar to eldritch and lovecraftian beings - the canon Aboleth designs feel a bit too tame imo, like, this is an immortal being - if their body is destroyed, its spirit simply returns to their home plane and "a new body coalesces for it over days or months." with all its memories perfectly intact. Also whenever they eat another being, they assimilate their memories as well.
And you're telling me the canon designs for a thing like that are all incredibly symmetrical? naah man, the potential.

In general, I feel like aberrations could do with added extra eldritch horror flavor, so I tried to go all the way with this one - Gotta give big credit to an artist called Adrian Bush on artstation

Their exploration designs for eldritch creatures were a big inspiration on where to take this; would never have associated slug-like features with "eldritch horror" before seeing their stuff-
