I made this photo of myself for a class assignment. The theme was to make something representative of the story "True Notebooks" by Mark Salzman. I never actually read the book, but my instructor gave us the gist of it. Basically, it's about a class of kids in a juvenile detention center. I have never been to such a place, but at this angle I look a lot tougher than in real life.

The photos from our class were then entered into a contest put on by the school. Lo and behold I won! The prize: A $40 gift certificate for the school cafeteria. That's like free cups of tea for a whole semester.
