Description
The Joker and Batman for a commissioner on Etsy, who wants to give this double-sided bookmark to her friend on Christmas. I'm a little sad to give this away.

Each side took me about 3-6 to make, which is a reason why I've decided to not draw bookmarks for commissions any more...

On the Batman: This was the hardest design I've ever made, with each shiny muscle on the bat suit driving me crazy while I watched Gone With the Wind on DVD. I probably ended up doing too much work, but I liked the end result. The bats were an afterthought that I liked.

On the Joker: I had to follow up the bats with cards and also liked the background there. This is the third Joker bookmark I've had to make, so I wanted to change it up a little. With this one, I decided to give him a different look - pensive and humanistic rather than sadistic and insane. I'm a huge Heath Ledger fan, so it's hard for me to look at the Joker and not see Ledger's beautiful smiling face behind it. It makes me sad to finish it and look back on it. I picked the reference picture because his expression almost seemed to foreshadow the actor's death, looking nervously back at eternity.

Looking back at all of them makes me realize just how much I've improved...
