Excellent lighting, the picture on the left is especially vivid. Really, they both are. It's just so vivid, so organic. I feel it. It's photography in three dimensions. I'm almost scared, because I feel like you can make even better pictures than this though, and this is pretty close to fantastic.

I love the left half - the face, the pose, the hat, the bluegreen highlighting of the brim of the upper lip, the way the light and shadows play across the face.
