I just keep getting this vibe that the "fall" is not the one of water. She looks like she just managed to escape the bonds of dispair.

Thank you very much for your comment. That would make it an interesting story had she escaped or been pushed over the edge of the Waterfall and clung onto that very rock for survival. I would've roughed her up a bit or used a different model....I have a good one I could've used if that were my angle!

I was thinking more along the lines of emotional abuse. She has the look of trouble and despair on her face, but she is sitting beside a calm and beautiful waterfall. Does this mean she is free, or is it the calm before the storm? When you run from your troubles, you can have a moment of serenity, but that doesnt mean you stopped bearing their burden.
A troubled past worn on the face of an angle can still show no matter how beautiful the Oasis she sits in.

Great observation!! I hadn't thought about that when I created the scene! I myself have been in that very situation you speak of. It was many years ago...but when I think of it, it was very much like you describe. I was sitting on a large rock looking out at the water and in a very contemplative state. The water was calm, but my mind and heart were not! It was, in fact the calm before the storm!! and within months my whole life would change....as I suspected it would!!
