I looked at the stock photos out of curiosity and could not believe how much effort you have put in and how beautifully blended everything is, changing his chair whilst maintaining correct perspective is fantastic, I really like the slightly painterly finish as well compared to the original photos. Great, great job.

I probably worked on it for close to a week but for the last 3 days I was working on it, it was mainly to get the shading and highlights 'Just Right' to make him look as if he's inside instead of outside!! Her original photo was complete synthetic lighting So...there was definitely work to be done on both models....he had a lot of blue tones, to tone down. (from being outside) and she had a lot of (synthetic yellow). The painterly effect is mainly on the models to give the models that last bit of shadow and highlight, it was the only way I knew how to do it! Plus I like that it softened them up overall compared to the highly textured and gritty background!! Thank you Very much for noticing all the details I really, really appreciate it!!!
Oh and one last detail I was proud of, where his arm rests on the open window, it just seemed to fit perfectly!

And you've not even mentioned the grainy view through the windows at the back - so much attention to fine detail - one of my favourites ever. I feel so lazy now .
I don't use PS, is the painterly effect a standard setting within that? - if so I need to check that out as I really like it.

Oh yes I replaced the old grainy windows with new grainy/dirty windows because I wanted to put that cool WWII building in the background! It's so awesome to find a dirty window stock right when you need it!!
I don't use the full on PS either, I have a very old PSE, however I have some fantastic plugins!!! (from Topaz labs) that help with effects including some painting effects, filters adjustments and overall look of any scene I'm working on!! Also I use a Wacom Bamboo tablet with pen, that Really give me some fine detail where painting is concerned! The tablet has helped the overall appearance along with the plugins immeasurably! I actually did a trial on the newest PS a few months ago...but with everything I have going on in my old version I didn't use the trial but a few days!!! Plus all combined it was cheaper for me to just add on and purchase a tablet from amazon.com!

I'm rather hoping Santa might bring me a tablet!. I was interested that you do not use full blown PS, I always think I may be missing something but maybe not looking at what you have achieved without it - I will check out some plugins.
Thank you so much for sparing the time to tell me!

here is the link for the plugins I use www.topazlabs.com/store the price they have listed is for everything, you can pick and choose what you'd use most. (and if you are interested in the whole package....Wait! I've seen it on sale for $299.) If purchasing separately like I did prices are listed in the view products area.....I forgot to mention you can get a free 30 day trial on the products you download...try it before you buy it. That's what sold me completely, my work dramatically improved from the first day of use!! and I do hope Santa does bring you a tablet that would be Awesome!!! So hypothetically if you were to buy the entire topaz collection even at regular price plus a tablet the entire cost of that would still be cheaper than the full on PS!

You are very welcome! Glad to help! I can honestly tell you since I started using the plugin's, Every piece I've created since then has utilized them in some way or another. And no I don't work for them!! I have the Adjust, Clean, De-noise & Simplify. I tend to use the Adjust & De-noise on every piece. I'd like to get the D-jpeg also. The painterly effects are on...Clean & Simplify. (I don't use those all the time) The painterly look in this scene is hand done.
Clean & Simplify change the look of your entire scene to see an example of use on Clean see these two works revande.deviantart.com/art/Kee… & revande.deviantart.com/art/Und… Simplify is used here revande.deviantart.com/art/Cou… & revande.deviantart.com/art/Nex… just to give you an idea of how they look. If you get them I can't wait to see your creations!!

I've dipped my toe in the water with the Simplify plug-in - I will see how it goes for 30 days but I think it is quite likely I will buy this one!. Thx Renee
