Description Please, no critique or mean comments. I mean, I'm not saying I expect any of you to, but, this picture, like the person it's of, mean the world to me. This is also my first serious attempt at realism in over a year, and the last time was a disaster, so please bear with me, I might get emotional over this piece...I already am.

And please Full View or it doesn't look right.

"Torch" by Alanis Morissette"

I miss your smell,
And your style.
And your pure abiding way.
Miss your approach to life,
And your body in my bed.

Miss your take on anything,
And the music you would play.
Miss cracking up, and wrestling,
Our debriefs at end of day.

These are the things that I miss.
These are not times for the weak of heart.
These are the days of raw despondence.
And I never dreamed I would have to,
Lay down my torch for you like this.

I miss your neck, and your gait,
And your sharing what you write.
Miss you walking through the front door,
Documentaries in your hand.

Miss travelling, our travelling,
And your fun and charming friends.
Miss our baser getaways,
And to watch you love my dogs.

These are the things that I miss.
These are not times for the weak of heart.
These are the days of raw despondence.
And I never dreamed I would have to,
Lay down my torch for you like this.

One step, one prayer.
I soldier on.
Stimulating, moving on.

I miss your warmth,
And the thought,
Of us bringing up our kids.
And the part of you that walks,
With your stick-tied handkercheif.

These are the things that I miss.
These are not times for the weak of heart.
These are the days of raw despondence.
And I never dreamed I would have to,
Lay down my torch for you like this.

That song is called "Torch" by Alanis Morissette, (So remember I didn't write this,) and one I deeply associate with Aaron and me, even if it can't be applied to us one-hundred percent. I think I was teary-eyed after hearing it for the first time, just like I was while I drew this picture.

I've been scared at attempting to draw Aaron, or even Zac Hanson, because of how much they both mean to me, but Aaron...I never thought I'd feel like trying to draw him. He has to be perfect...anything less won't do, so I certainly can't do him justice...I still can't...

...But my mom suggested I try it after I showed her my last attempt at drawing a person, realistically, and failed miserably. "Maybe because you care about him so much, it'll come out better," she said. Sure he came out much better than that, but, it'll never be good enough for me.

Nothing I try to do for or about him will ever be good enough. It'll never match what he did for me.

But I'll still try my best for him.

I'll probably update this image at least once...it's an on-going project. Not saying it's finished... And I know his hair isn't perfect. I've already admitted that.

...But seriously, not a word of advice, or anything. If I wanted advice I'd ask for it. Nothing negative at all.

You all should recognize the pose. It was one of the last times I saw him last spring, and its a photo I've showed you several times. *nudges shoutboard*

...I still love you Aaron <3

Well, the last time I tried to draw a human was back in the fall of 2007, and he (not the same person) turned out looking like a cartoon. So I kinda gave up on that. But my Mom encouraged me to draw Aaron since he means so much to me, saying that this might affect how it came out. I think she was right. There were points that I didn't like how it was looking, but I just, I dunno, I tried to get it to match the memory in my head.

I won't say I'm good at drawing like this yet at all. But thank you very much. Your encouragement and praise means a great deal

How the hell can anyone say anything BAD about this!!!!
It's amazingly drawn, expertly detailed, and fits a purpose that I know on a personal level, and an artistic level! You don't deserve anything less than praise from this!

I dunno...I typed that because well, I'm defensive of the picture, just like I am of Aaron I guess. He, and the love, mean the world to me, so, saying something bad about this picture would be like a knife through my heart.

Thank you so much KT. I've gotten many wonderful and positive comments, and that means a lot, not just because I'm a novice at pencil drawings, (my last attempt looks like a cartoon character) but because he means so much to me. I really appreciate the praise, and the favorite too

It's not easy XD I usually like to make notation of where the top of the head is, and then where the eyes, nose, mouth and chin are in relation to that. Once I get everything in the right place, I just...draw what I see XD

Last time I tried to draw a person they looked like a cartoon character. That's why I was scared to draw Aaron...I wanted him to be perfect. I guess after over a year of just drawing and improving my skills in general I was able to accomplish this. I learned a lot when I did a pencil drawing of my character Elianaron, plus I have one of my old textbooks for help.

It's not easy though. I still don't like how his hair looks over his left eye, but I'm working on it ^^

And that poem is actually a song by Alanis Morissette. It's called "Torch" and it reminds me of him.

Thank you for the comment and the fave ^^ It really means a lot!

I know how you feel. I last drew people realistically in 2007 and they both looked like carachitures (sp?) ...cartoony versions of people. That's why I was scared to try this

But I think it just takes practice. I mean, all I've drawn since those attemps are cartoon characters! You'll just keep improving no matter what you draw ^^

the depth you apply to this definitely says you put a lot of work into it. Proportions are great and the shade and detail strengthens the image, I only focus on positivity^^

ReverseTheEclipse In reply to Dekaisen [2009-02-21 04:43:26 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much There are things I want to improve, like his hair over his left eye, but I'm working on it, and I think the shading could be a bit stronger, but I'm very happy with it.

The last time I tried to draw a person was over a year ago in the fall of 2007, and it turned out looking like a cartoon character, so I was afraid to try and draw Aaron since he means the world to me. But I guess a year of improving my skills in general helped a lot, and remembering what I learned in class helped too.

Amazingly done!!! You are very good at humans!

lawl sure I am XD last time I drew a human back in 2006 he looked like a cartoon character.

I took my time with Aaron because he had to look right. Many times I was getting upset because he looked wrong, but I just...I kept trying to get him to look, not just like he does in the photo, but how I see him, and this is what happened.

I think only Zac Hanson could turn out anywhere nearly as good XD It's only because they mean so much to me.

I need a lot of practice before I'll say I'm good lol.

But thank you so much ^^ I really appreciate it ^^

sorry... I dunno of you allow me to comment or not...

anyway,
It's nice
I do not know who Aaron is,
but I am making a comic in progress,
inside, there's a character named Aaron...
and he looks similar to the Aaron you drew..

and yes, this Aaron I made represents the one I loved most once.
this picture brought me back to my past

Anyway, thank you so much for the comment ^^ I really appreciate it And good luck with your comic ^^

Ok.

sure.
I just havent made out what the story line should be...
*sigh*
and I can't use photoshop either.
I don't understand about layers and the next thing I clicked 'layers' it messed up.

tried to use gimp, but it has less facility. GRRR.

lets see if I can make it through, though

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ReverseTheEclipse In reply to y1n5h3n [2009-02-22 03:31:35 +0000 UTC]

I haven't had much practice with Photoshop. I have learned how to use Illustrator though.

Layers help put a picture together. Your base layer is already there when you open a document. You can create a new layer, and draw something on that layer, and you can make it so writing on top of it won't affect that layer, and you can make layers visible or invisible. It's not as complicated as it appears. You should try looking up tutorials.

I've used Gimp once to make something transparent.

I wish you luck with it! I'm sure if you could figure out how to use the programs you'll do great!

the language.
yes I do understand english but it's just complicated. hah.
I was using Ulead something.. but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
and my tablet screwed up. it is now very sensitive.

ReverseTheEclipse In reply to y1n5h3n [2009-02-24 19:08:48 +0000 UTC]

Surely you can find a tutorial in your language. Just, if you google search the kind of tutorial you need, add the name of the language you need it in as part of the search. See if that helps!
