In that picture, you've got the cubbies' daddy, Reala, with the smallest one, tiny Mae. She's the runt so Reala keeps her close most of the time. I wanted to do a picture of Collette with the older three and this is the result.

The cubbies in question?

Mae is the tiny one in front, and this picture has the older three, Ryuji, Satomi, and Soren spending some time with their mother Collette. I wasn't sure on the background; I was trying to think of how to tie it into the cave scene, since that cave that Reala and Mae are in and even this one I did of Reala and Collette is not only where they are conceived but where they sleep and live most of the time.

Couldn't think of how to do it so I went back to an old reliable lol I LOVE doing sunsets with stars at the top; Shut up I like doing them XD I added the fireflies which is what I WAS able to incorporate from the cave scenes. I imagine the forest where the cave is is in the direction they're facing and they're just out in a field enjoying the sunset and shooting stars and fireflies <3

I loved the sketch and while it needed some tweaking I do love how this came out <3 I drew Collette with her glasses initially but left them out in the line art. She doesn't have to have them on to see so she can take them off and I felt she looked better without them in this case. She's got little Satomi on her shoulder; Satomi is the oldest girl but is born between her two brothers. Ryuji is the white one and he's the oldest of the cubbies; his legs are actually...wrong. I was trying something in my head since he is a cub...but those kinds of legs don't give you the impression that he'll ever walk upright. Just remember he will walk on two legs and have "normal" human like legs. It didn't occur to me what that looked like until after I started coloring and shading.

Soren is the other boy, the one with blue eyes. He's meant to be a little smaller than his brother but looks bigger since it's a side view of Ryuji. You can't see his legs very well but his I drew the way they're all supposed to be.

Anyway I had a lot of fun with this picture. It took less than a week to do working on it on and off so I'm getting better at that. As for what I learned with this picture I learned how to select the background and invert the selection so it would select the characters without me having to click one region at the time with the magic wand. And from that I was able to apply a layer of shadow to only them and not the entire picture which kept from taking the color out of the background, which helps a lot. I also shaded this picture with the pen tool instead of air brushing, which was something I hadn't done before.

Btw you can see their eye colors now! For reference Mae has blue eyes too only they're much, much lighter than Soren's. <3
