Description That Beach…
By: Lauren Hodge

For everyone whose soul mate is also their best friend: Best Friends Forever, in heart.

That beach I call home,
I ever would roam,
And never find the secrets,
Of the sand or ocean foam,
On the shores of that beach.

On that beach, I learned to walk,
On that beach, I learned to talk,
And I found a sand dollar,
Colored like vanilla chalk,
On the shores of that beach.

I learned to swim in that sea,
My parents were so proud of me,
I laughed and giggled when I saw,
Dolphins jumping high and free,
From the shores of that beach.

I rode horses through the waves,
And spent many carefree days,
With friends and family watching,
The many seagulls fly and play,
On the shores of that beach.

Summer came to that shore,
And like I never saw before,
Was the guy of my dreams,
Who I had been looking for,
On the shores of that beach.

His eyes they met mine,
What a moment in time,
And towards each other we came,
Hanging onto love’s line,
On the shores of that beach.

Our love was so mature,
Of that love, we were sure,
That so long would it last,
That we could plan our future,
On the shores of that beach.

Hair blowing in the breeze,
He was down on bent knee,
And from the bottom of his heart,
He asked, “Will you marry me?”
On the shores of that beach.

I moved far, far from home,
From the place I would roam,
But with him, I was happy,
Even without ocean foam,
From the shores of that beach.

Yet one day, we returned,
For after long work we’d earned,
A vacation to the beach,
To watch the ocean churn,
Off the shores of that beach.

I gazed out towards the sea,
As my love stood with me,
We stood hand-in-hand,
Thinking of what was soon to be,
On the shores of that beach.

Never apart,
Together in heart,
The love that was our child,
Had gotten it’s start,
On the shores of that beach.

A love that is real,
Is the kind you can feel,
In the place in your heart,
Where I gave in to my will,
On the shores of that beach.

Now that beach I call home,
And always would roam,
Is where my heart will stay,
Never forgotten or alone,
On the shores of that beach.
