"You lost kid?" The stranger longneck asked Shorty, peering down at him through narrowed eyes, "Where's your folks?"

Shorty felt another wave of bitter emotions well up in him. he opened his mouth to tell the salty longneck that it was none of his business, but stopped himself and slowly hung his head dejectedly.
"I don't have any... at least not anymore." Shorty mumbled, "He... has his real son now. He doesn't need me anymore..." Shorty said as he felt tears welling up in his eyes.

The stranger was quiet for a moment, studying the little longneck before speaking again, "You're out here all by yourself?"

Shorty nodded.

"Well," The stanger let out a sigh and turned away, "That makes two of us." He turned to leave, almost as if he was about to leave the lonely kid all by himself.

Shorty watched the stranger begin to go on his way and turned away as well, letting out a sigh and continuing his long walk into the unknown.

"Hey kid," The stranger suddenly called back to him.

Shorty stopped and looked over his shoulder at him, "what?"

"Why don't you tag along with me?" The Stranger asked, "I reckon we're headed the same way."

Shorty looked shocked for a moment, staring up at this mysterious longneck. Was he offering to take him in? The look of shock on his face soon molded into one of uncertainty as his brows furrowed and he shot the stranger an untrusting look. He didn't want to trust another grownup only to get left behind again.
"Oh yeah?" Shorty sniffed, "And where is that?"

"Anywhere the wind takes us."

Do you guys remember the scene in The Great Longneck Migration where Shorty almost ran away? Well... what if he did? What if he vanished before Littlefoot could stop him? I came up with the idea of him maybe meeting Doc and Doc takes him under his wing! What do you guys think of this AU idea?
