Description
When I was little, I was such a TV-addict. I watched a lot of cartoons particularly the old cartoons (1970s and before). One cartoon that I still remember and cherish to this day is the Augie Doggie & Doggie Daddy show, created by famous team animators William Hanna and Joseph Barbera (The Flintstones, Top Cat, Yogi Bear, etc). For those of you not familiar with the show, here's the basic overview:Based on the characters Spike and Tyke (created by Hanna-Barbera during the 1940's), a kind-hearted yet barely competent single father struggles through the hardships of the 1950's while raising his precocious son, Augie. His attempts to prove himself a good role model for his son often get him--if not both--into trouble. Although Augie adores his father, he has a tendency to be critical when his "dear old Dad" (as he often refers to him) fails to meet his expectations. Catchphrases such as "Oh the shame of it" is prominent throughout the series. While it is never mentioned, the location is supposedly suburban New York (particularly upstate). The mother is never mentioned or referred to in the cartoon series either, although it is believed that the mother died in childbirth. Put it short, the series focuses on the misadventures of father and son.
With all that said, you're looking at my own drawing of Augie himself. Enjoy!

Reyelene, you honestly never cease to amaze me with your astounding art skills. While I haven't seen the show, I have heard of it every now & again. Looks quite interesting, now that you mention it.

It's my favorite out of the old Hanna-Barbera cartoon shorts. The plot is pretty simple, but it leaves a lot of things open for interpretation. Furthermore, it's one of the only Hanna-Barbera cartoon shorts (if not THE only) that isn't a mimic of live-action television sitcoms.

I don't know if you have the channel Boomerang, but it plays on there. I'm not sure if they have it at the local video rental places, but you might want to check there too.

I think I do have Boomerang, but there's so many channels with my cable, it'd take forever to check. Nevertheless, I shall.

Just to let you know, they're part of the Quick Draw McGraw show and sometimes the Yogi Bear show.
