Description
Female nursery web spiders (dolomedes minor) spin a highly protective nest in which to rear their young. This one has been spun around the stems of a native turutu (dianella nigra), entrapping its gorgeous blue berries which are ripening from now till autumn. As delightful as these berries are, they are toxic to humans.
