I love where you're going with the paint thing.

Thanks very much. Well, when I say it's experimental and I don't know what I'm doing I'm not kidding - I was trying some more painting today and it didn't work out at all! But I do like these two pieces, and I have hope.

There's a learning curve because paint is different from paper. But I love to have the option of adding color (even texture) that way. Ink is the best for me, though.

this is more collage than the other one, and more rich and balanced. i like it much, but unexpectedly for me, i still like the other one. i mean this one is better, but i really prefer the first

i know what you mean! this one is actually a little designery (word i made up and used to use talking to Adonis). it makes it more finished and "better" but the other one was very loose and had a "what is going on here?" feeling. at least it seems so to me - thanks for the discerning comment, Hanan!

exactly. and it works for my own images too. the ones i prefer are the less "finished" and worked on. most of the times, my feeling is not shared with my watchers

ha.
well this is why we can't regard our works as our children - this sort of difference of opinion would be upsetting. when the pieces have their own life we can see how they are received and say, "well isn't that interesting?"

we should also consider our children like this. it would be very helpful, for them and for us

that is an excellent point indeed
they need so much support and protection - and so much freedom at the same time. and there are years in their lives when it's especially difficult... i will respect my sons' privacy by not saying more in this open thread!

thank you! I like it better too - there was a mix of spontaneity and thinking in putting it together - the proportions of each were just about right
