This is the cover of my latest Drako the Barbarian story, “To Move the Shade” that is on The Duck Webcomics website. These comix are rated “A” for adults only. In the story, Drako must defend a beautiful elf from an army of orc-like demons. The elf has come up with a recipe for black powder that she hopes to sell to a princely Rhabar Nadim. Drako must protect her from Rhabar and his castle of spies and assassins.
To move the shade is a sword technique from the famous samurai, Miyamoto Musashi’s “A Book of Five Rings”.
“To move the shade is used when you cannot see the enemy’s spirit. In a large scale strategy, when you can’t see the enemy’s position, indicate that you are about to attack strongly, to discover his resources. It is easy to defeat him with a different method once you see his resources.
In single combat, if the enemy takes up a rear or side attitude of the long sword so that you cannot see his intention, make a feint attack, and the enemy will show his long sword, thinking he sees your spirit. Benefiting from what you are shown, you can win with certainty. If you are negligent you will miss timing. Research this well.”
