Welcome to the single most time-consuming piece I've ever done - trying to figure out that perspective for the first time + trying this new shading for the first time was spread across a bunch of drawing sessions this month. I initially made the background a lot busier; more lights, more buildings, more shapes - but that seemed to take away from the horses. I'd wanted to add the lightning from the beginning, but was stuck on how to do it until I realised the coloured vs. white light would be a fun way to show it.
