Description
Fog approaching into the valley (that's what title means too).It's taken December '05 in south germany. The city is called Albstadt.

Der Nebel ist göttlich *.* Sah das in dem Moment echt genauso aus? Ich verliere ja schon die Kontrolle über mich wenn ich vernebelte Wälder und/oder Felder sehe ._. Bei so einem Anblick würde ich bestimmt mit einem Herzinfarkt ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert werden.

Ja, unsere Wälder sind toll und erst recht mit Nebel mystisch, göttlich ... - zum Verlieben. Die grobe Kontrolle habe ich bisher noch behalten können; allein meine Sichtweise zu Leben und Prioritäten wurde beeinflußt. Gleichwie, ich strebe danach diesen Zauber als Photo festhalten zu können. Allerdings verlangt die derzeitige Technik eigene Anpassungen: Dynamik, Kontrast, Weißabgleich, ... Die menschliche Wahrnehmung unterscheidet sich noch von der technischen Bildausgabe. Aber ich versuche diese an meine Wahrnehmung anzunähern, so gut es geht. Deshalb: Ja, für mich sah das so aus - obwohl die eine oder andere Farbe gering abweichen könnte. Konstellation und Geschehen sind natürlich echt. Und klar war das ein toller Anblick; Herzinfarkt ist da eine Möglichkeit ... Eine Freundin fragte mal nach was anderem - aber wir wollen anständig bleiben, ne.

Dann war es bestimmt nicht leicht das Bild so anzupassen. Das ist wirklich schade das so viele Dinge auf Fotos nicht so bezaubernd wirken wie in Wirklichkeit. Aber um wie viel Uhr wurde das Bild denn aufgenommen? Hmm wahrscheinlich irgentwann von 16-18 Uhr? Mir gefällt an dem Bild das dämmert, aber auch irgentwie noch hell ist wenn man den Himmel betrachtet. Und man muss ja auch wirklich Glück haben Schnee und Nebel zusammen zu erwischen *.*

Mir sind jene Bilder immer die liebsten, die sich nicht ohne Weiteres wiederholen lassen. N büssl Glück braucht man hie und da, dafür werden ja auch genug andere Bilder weitaus weniger spektakulär. ^^ Vorausgesetzt meine Kamera hatte die genaue Zeit, war es zur Aufnahme am 20.12. gerade 18:14 Uhr. Aber ich habe Anlaß zu glauben, daß sie ne halbe Stunde vor ging. Also hast Du wohl recht.

This is a beautiful shot. But at the same time I wonder about how it looked like a few hundreths years ago... I guess the atmosphere of the grounds that would never change made me think about it.

Is this HDR? Do any type of highlight/shadows work to it?

It is a DRI, made by two pics up to 5 seconds of exposure. So the darker image retained the lighter parts of the sky and some bright lights in the city. It's not a HDR in its nowadays wrongly used meaning.

Oh so, layers and two exposed images in photoshop is called DRI now.. I guess that's what I've been doing for years now, I was just thinking of it as HDR without tonemapping.

Yeah, it's confusing. There is exposure blending, DRI, HDR, and so on. Most people don't care about these terms. I think that's because they all mean increasing dynamic (right so far) - but saving it in a 8bit-JPEG ... ^^ In case of HDR they often associate tonemapping too (no comment to contrast and colors ...). Sure, they mapped high dynamic on a low dynamic image, but it will be difficult to differentiate between real HDR and LDR out of (pseudo- or real)HDR in the future (where hopefully will be HDR-screens and cameras
