Renik is one of my oldest characters I have had along with Chase who hasn't been redesign and retooled beyond recognition, forgotten, merged together, or sold. As such, I really like him. Originally he was an old red wolf redneck. I kinda imagine if someone shouts redneck really fast it sounds like Renik so there. When I first redesigned Renik to not be a redneck back in 2014/15, I watched alot of these "anime wolf" videos, just clips of non credited images of wolves set to some edgy music hence why he shares style beats. Here I decided to go back on his older age and finally got rid of the green triangles on him.

Storywise, he is a sun wolf, a sophont species of hybrid canine descended from dogs, coyotes, and grey wolves who have a symbiotic relationship with nanobots. They are descendants of the Poet , who still lives among them. The nanobots can keep their host bodies alive for thousands of years while the host body acts as protection as nanobots are easily destroyed if not found in large numbers or within a host. Nanobots are rather scarce by his time, 10 million years into the future, as their manufacture has become highly restricted/banned all together. What nanobots remain mostly live inside hosts. Sun wolves are not the only species to be hosts for nanobots however by his time, they are one of the most common and viable. Nanobots are curious entities who can link their knowledge and like to find patterns and explore. Wolves are creatures that are nomadic or have large ranges of territory. Renik himself embodies this and has traveled around the Solar System many times.
