In this sketch I am basically just trying to get a good feel for my new intuos3 tablet. I figured I'd find a really good artist here on DA (ngboy) and copy one of his sketches from scratch: [link]

I tried to add my own style to it...to kind of make it unique. For instance the ear, eye, and flow of the hair.

I really think this is the beginning of a new journey for me. I always wanted to be able to draw this good...and I finally have a way of doing it. Heres a list of the major problems that I am going to have to remedy in the future.

#1. I need to be able to do this faster! It took me 2 hours just to do a head...that could be a problem.

#2. I need to learn how to make my own characters. Not copy someone elses.

#3. I suck at anatomy (facial distortions etc). Might need to buy a book from amazon or something.

If anyone has any pointers or tips I would greatly appreciate them! Also if you know of any good books...could really use them I think.
