In 1957 under the chairmanship of future Michigan governor George Romney, the American Motors Corporation -- once the largest domestic automaker after the Big Three -- introduced the AMC Ambassador, a full-size car that was produced until 1974 in Kenosha, Wisconsin and some foreign factories. A 1966 Ambassador DPL hardtop coupe with vertically-stacked twin headlights is displayed at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke.
