While New York-based Grumman was the primary contractor for the NASA lunar lander, one of the subcontractors was Canadian: Héroux-Devtek, an experienced Québec-based manufacturer of aircraft landing gear that supplied the legs. However, for political reasons, the feet themselves were made in the USA. A copy of an Apollo 11 leg from the July 1969 mission that successfully conducted the first manned moon landing is displayed at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa. With the selection of Jeremy Hansen for the American-led Artemis 2 lunar orbit mission and the projection of a Canadarm on the future lunar space station, it seems Canada will return to the Moon, even if not yet under her own flag.
