Description With the foothills of the Southern Alps in the background, Japanese National Railways / Rasa Industries 2-6-4 tank engine C10.8 (Kawasaki, 1930) maneuvers around Senzu Station (千頭駅) on the Ōigawa Railway (大井川鐵道) in Shizuoka Prefecture.  C10.8 was the last revenue steam locomotive in Japan when withdrawn in 1987, by which time few other advanced countries were still operating steam outside of heritage railways, and is the only survivor of the twenty-three C10s.
