Description The Fairchild FC series was designed in the mid-1920s for aerial survey and soon saw wide use in both that role and more general transportation.  Up in Canada, the Royal Canadian Air Force used it for both survey and communication, while civilian operators used it as a "bush plane" in the north and medium-range airliner (up to 685 miles or 1100 kilometers) in the south.  Brock & Weymouth Inc. → Aero Service Corporation FC-2W2 G-CART, which was powered by a 420-horsepower Pratt & Whitney Wasp radial engine, is displayed at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum (Ottawa) as a Canadian Transcontinenal Airways Ltd. plane.  Note the large tires on the landing gear and the folded-back wings.
