Description
One of many enemy weapons captured by the British Army and now on display at the York Army Museum is this World War II-era MG42 machine gun. It was designed by Grossfuss of Dobeln, Saxony, and was also built by Mauser, Gustloff, and other companies. Unlike the previous German machine gun, the MG34, the MG42 was cheaper to produce and less sensitive to dust. It could fire 1200 rounds per minute, too fast to hear the individual bullets being fired, so German troops nicknamed it "Hitlersage" and Allied troops similarly nicknamed it "Hitler's buzzsaw." After Nazi Germany surrendered, the MG42 and licensed copies remained in use with armies around the world, and it still influences machine gun design. It is used by Kerberos "Protect Gear" soldiers in Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, and has appeared in many WWII-set movies, TV shows, and video games.Related content

its definitely one the best machine guns ever made and still used today under the designation MG3. It certainly influenced the designs of some of my Favourite machine guns and it is also among those.
