Description In 1932, the Great Western Railway (GWR) built a new engine shed at its Didcot depot in Oxfordshire to replace a cramped Victorian-era shed.  The new shed could fit three tender engines or six tank engines on each of its 200-foot tracks, and as a "through shed" was open in the front and connected to the locomotive workshop in the back.  The front part is now a popular photography site at Didcot Railway Centre, and when I visited I saw British Railways "Gronk" diesel shunter No. 08604 Phantom, GWR Class 5700 0-6-0 pannier tank engine No. 3650, and GWR 4-6-0 express passenger engine No. 6023 King Edward II parked outside while several other engines such as GWR "Marlow Donkey" 0-4-2 tank engine No. 1466, GWR 4-6-0 express passenger engine No. 5051 Drysllwyn Castle, and a Hall-class engine were parked near the front of the shed.
