Description
From the model train collection at the B&O Railroad Museum (Baltimore, Maryland): a large-scale cutaway of EMD E8 prototype diesel locomotive 950. The E8 was introduced in 1949 and the demonstrators were sold to the Southern Pacific, Rock Island, and Delaware, Lackawanna & Western railroads. Almost 500 E8s were built, mostly A units with some B units, and several have been preserved. I'm mostly a steam fan, but I really appreciate the colors and streamlining of the transition-era "covered wagon" diesels.
