Description During World War II, the U.S. Marine Corps used aviators as forward air controllers in the infantry to call in airstrikes on Japanese forces, which to this day stands as testimony of the coordination and cooperation of the Marines.  This diorama at the National Museum of the Marine Corps (Quantico, Virginia) shows two forward air controllers of Marine Air Group 24 (MAG-24) calling in an airstrike from a jeep, perhaps somewhere in the Philippines, as that is where MAG-24 saw a lot of combat.
