Description Happy belated 99th birthday to the Royal Canadian Air Force! Another RCAF airplane I saw at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum (Ottawa) last year was Avro CF-100 Canuck Mk.5D jet fighter 100757, which served from 1958 to 1979 and flew to the museum under her own power after retirement. The CF-100 was the only mass-produced fighter designed and built in Canada — most have been locally-built clones of British or American planes, and the domestically-designed CF-105 Arrow was canceled before entering mass production. Instead, Diefenbaker looked south of the border and imported the F-101 Voodoo to replace the CF-100.
