Sampson was one of a small number of tank engines that worked in America. This 0-6-0 light tank was built in the 1860s by Union Iron Works of San Francisco, California. It was used for pulling coal cars on a short line. This scale model of Sampson is on display at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum.Related content
