Description Simplex locomotive No. 44 shunts a short sand train around the recreated quarry at Stonehenge Works Station on the Leighton Buzzard Railway in Bedfordshire, England -- the same county where Motor Rail began building gasoline and diesel locomotives for the military in 1916 and soon after for civilian customers.  The Leighton Buzzard Railway, which opened in 1919 with steam locomotives, replaced them with Simplexes in 1921, becoming an early convert to internal-combustion locomotives.
