Description If we include fiction, then the world's most famous steam locomotive is most likely Thomas the Tank Engine, whose replica (capable of projecting steam but not pulling a train) visited the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum in Baltimore, Maryland.   It's a shame this isn't a working steam locomotive, as it would be interesting to see an inside-cylinder engine operating in the United States, as well as a working Thomas that isn't built over a real steam locomotive.  Note the knuckle coupler to work with American rolling stock, and the size difference between Thomas (based on a London, Brighton and South Coast Railway E2 0-6-0 tank engine) and the B&O streamlined coach behind him.
