War Memorial of Korea (Seoul).

After the American Civil War, the U.S. Army uniform remained Union Army blue for much of the late 19th century, so when American troops landed at Ganghwa Island in 1871 in a failed attempt to force Korea to reopen (and punish Korea for the General Sherman Incident) they looked almost the same as five or ten years before. Two U.S. Army infantry uniforms of that period are displayed together, a second lieutenant on the right and a sergeant on the left.
