When I woke up this morning, I heard Leonard Nimoy (the original Mr. Spock) had died. It's a sad day for science fiction, and I would like to pay some tribute with this picture of a model I saw at Sanno Mokei hobby store in downtown Shizuoka. It's the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) as it appeared after being redesigned/refitted for the Star Trek movies. Spock died saving this ship from Khan, and Captain Kirk stole the ship to recover Spock from the Genesis Planet. Kirk was forced to destroy his own ship to keep it out of the hands of the Klingons, but he was able to save Spock, return his body to Vulcan, and reunite his friend's body and soul. Now the original Spock and the original Starship Enterprise are gone, though they certainly lived long and prospered.Related content

It is a shame that one the most iconic actors from Star Trek just died. May he rest in peace, or as he would say, "Live long and prosper".
