It was a whole awesome musical number and everything! But that's really cool that you found a reference to The Jungle Book as well! XD I guess that whole "One with Nature" theme is present in a lot of animal-based films! ^^

the lion king reference is not really to nature being one.
its the child that he is referring to.
he tells her we are more than just individual.
shes one with him, because she is of him as his blood relative.

When I look at this picture, I can only imagine the expression on the child's face. Is she sad? Surprised? Scared? In awe or even understanding?
The lion's expression says one of 3 things.
1) "I'm trapped inside here for your amusement. Please free me."
2) "High five sister!"
3) "If this barrier wasn't here, you'd be my lunch." O_O warped, I know.

I adore this picture; it captures a complexity in something very simple - the basic inner animal, specifically the inner Lion, all humans have. It kind of reminds me of a quote from a famous author: "We keep housecats because we long to touch that wild part of the jungle we know would kill us in an instant . . . it's as much a part of us in wonder as it is in fear."
