Description
Not technically a ruin, but this biplane flew overhead as we went to explore an old abandoned Norfolk airfield. And an interesting note, from this airfield (fersfield) assassinated US President John F Kennedy's brother flew during the Second World War on a mission to deliver a remote controlled plane packed with explosives to the German occupied Europe. They flew in pairs, one plane, abandoned just after take off, was remotely controlled by the second plane. Unfortunately, over the channel, the plane packed with bombs exploded and took with it the controlling plane. There is nothing much left of the old airfield now, we discovered. A couple of the runways still exist as farm tracks and there is an old B2 hangar which is now part of a series of warehouses.
