Description
If ever there was a bird that I thought would rip my face off, this is the one. A Vermiculated Screech Owl, found on a trail in Tirimbina Biological Reserve in Costa Rica. Literally found *on* the trail. As in, walking on the trail and bang your head into the branch the owl was sitting on. I got very close to this guy, and he was fantastically patient with our presence.

And his eyes glowed in the dark like embers from the fiery pits of hell. Awesome bird.
