Damage-Grant Emerson is the biological son of the Golden Age Atom, Al Pratt. Unknown to his father, his mother, Mary James, gave him up for adoption. Grant spent the majority of his young life searching for his real parents. At some point, his adoptive parents were paid to kill him…bummer. It also turns out that Vandal Savage injected DNA from most of the JSA. Apparently, this storyline got dropped along the way. His powers, though, are more aligned with his biological father and include the usual super strength, durability and reflexes. He also has the ability to project concussive energy from his hands and, well, blow himself up…and a good portion of Atlanta when he lost control. He’s been a member of the JSA, Freedom Fighters, and the Titans. During a fight involving the JSA and Injustice Society, his face was severely scarred by Professor Zoom. At that point, he started wearing a mask, similar to the one worn by his father and kind of, sort of adoptive brother, Atom Smasher. He died and was resurrected a couple of times and finally died for real during the Blackest Night event.
