thanks, I always enjoy the end product when I can ink something myself and get that instant (or close enough) gratification of having it look finished. I just wish I was faster at it.

Yeah I know what you mean there. I found my forays into inking were long processes that generally ended with my neck and arm aching from craning over the page too much. Still, even if it takes you a while, you do a damn good job of it.

Awesome!! Gotta love the Hulk! He gets to smash things, lol...then again there is the live on the run, the constantly wanting to be used as a weapon, the never being able to spend his life in peace with the one he loves.....ah hell who needs all that when you get to smash things!! It evens out!!

Wow nice and usualy you used to ink other toolΒ΄s how Nibs and Brush ??

RobertAtkins In reply to JonasTrindade [2010-02-15 18:08:08 +0000 UTC]

yeah I ink mostly with a brush on everything. I use nibs for certain textures like rubble or debris. Rocks or anything that needs broken up bouncy lines. I use tech pens on anything manufactured, like weapons, vehicles some buildings etc...

im not very fast though, probably because I dont do it everyday. but also I get very caught up on trying to make the most perfect line possible.

AaronHoustonArt In reply to RobertAtkins [2010-02-15 15:46:19 +0000 UTC]

oh, do you take requests and then do them after the con when you can?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RobertAtkins In reply to AaronHoustonArt [2010-02-15 18:06:01 +0000 UTC]

not usually , this was for a guy who thought he'd be able to make the show and then couldnt at the last minute. I worked it out with him to go ahead and take his requests at my convention rate and get them finished up as my time permitted.

In the past I've occasionally taken requests home with me after a show, but they inevitably take forever to get fitted into my work schedule, then I spend a lot of time on them for relatively little money. The customer usually gets antsy and complains of waiting for the sketch and then I get paid less for the time Im spending on it compared to my regular page rate or full commission prices.

I try not to do this any more since obviously no one really benefits. well the customer does eventually, because after all the whining and badgering they get a pretty detailed sketch and then are completely happy with it.
