Description Been a while since I posted some robot fanart, and this one has some personal importance, Iv grown up reading books about robots,’playing games about robots and naturally watching television about robots.

This is one Iv wanted to draw for a while now, Pluto from the #astroboy series by #osamutezuka specifically from the 2003 anime series

I don’t know why but most shows in the early to mid 200s had a distinct and interesting style, it was like a cross between the old becoming modern and the modern becoming new.
I also like how it takes the campy ness of its classic predecessors and manages to add a unique take on it.
also the dub was fairly decent ^^

Pluto was probably my favourite character from@thisnshow, he only had a few episodes but he left a big impression, throughs the different versions he’s this giant demonic robot who was made to fight and destroy other robots just to prove his strength, and it’s only after making friends with the main characters and starts to question his purpose (as robots have slowly developing emotions within the series) does he realise his actions.

I prefer the 2003 version as it feels more fluid in terms of character, and the design just screams robot, the 60s-80s version wasn’t bad and the newer darker version on Netflix has a nice monstrous look but this will always be the version of the character that resonates with me the most, and is in the top 10 of robot characters that inspire my drawings.
