Ch.2 Rise of the Generals

As David quickly flew back into his room as the suns rays began to peek across the horizon he quickly reverted back to his human guise. He then peered back out the window pleased that while he had been out patrolling the city during the night that there had been no major problems that arose.
"Oh No" he mumbled as he saw what time it was on the clock that sat next to his bed. "Great my first day and I'm already late" he growled to himself as he ran out of his room down the stairs and to the store. "I'm so sorry I'm late Jenny it won't happen again I promise" he cried as he burst out of the stair well and into the store.
"Don't worry were not open today and won't be for the rest of the week and also I would have knocked on your door to make sure you were awake anyways" said Jenny taking another sip of her coffee.
"Oh well sorry about that then and please don't mind me asking why aren't we opening for the rest of the week?" asked David a little confused.
"Well even before yesterdays events I was planning on just taking a week off and then you showed up so this week I picked to take off is perfect because I can now also get you trained for when we open back up next week" she said while setting down her coffee cup.
"Oh well still sorry about that" said David blushing.
"Uhhh and like I said don't worry about it and now if you'll follow me please back into the dojo I'd like to see first hand just how good you are with a blade" she said getting up and walking past David.
"Oh boy this is going to be a long morning" thought David to himself. As they passed through the door at the back of the store and into the dojo it was at that moment that David realized just how big the building actually was upon seeing the dojo. As he continued to look around he noticed that at the back corner of the room was a small Koi pond with a small bench that sat right next to it and also a small barrel of training katanas sat right next opposite the bench.
"Now I want to see the full extents of your ability with a blade so don't hold back" she said as she drew one of the training katanas from the barrel.
"Well I'll try and not hold back" he said drawing two katanas out of the barrel.
"Oh so your also trained in the art of fighting with duel swords are you well then I'm going to have to keep my guard up won't I otherwise this fight may be over quickly" she said as she took her duel stance.
"Indeed" said David as he took up his battle stance. As they stood there unmoving waiting and watching to see who would strike first the only sound that could be heard to them were there own hearts as they drowned out any other noise or distraction. Suddenly in a burst of speed they both leapt forward crossing blades in the middle of the room. "Your fast" said David a little shocked at how fast she could move even though she was only human.
"You're pretty good yourself" said Jenny in quick reply as they continued to try and push each other back trying to gain a better foot hold. Soon they both realized that neither of them were gaining any ground so just as fast as they had connected they separated and jumped back. As they landed neither of them wasted anytime as they both then immediately sprung at each other once more landing blow after blow in perfect unison as the sound of there wooden katanas crashing together rang throughout the dojo. As there relentless battle continued on David saw that Jenny was starting to breath heavily and it was then that he realized just how long they had been sparring as he saw a clock that now read 8:00 while when they had started fighting it had only read 7:08.
"You fought well Jenny but I can already tell that this match has been decided and the victor is apparent" David announced suddenly as he landed from dodging yet another of Jenny's slowing attacks.
"Don't get to ahead of yourself because until you have me to a point where I know death is unavoidable this fight is not yet over" said Jenny in quick reply.
"As I said before this match has been decided but if that is the way you see things then I will oblige by your rules" said David in a calm unwavering voice.
"Duel sword" "DIVING FALCON" shouted David as he sprang forward so fast that all Jenny had time to do was to raise her sword to block. As David's attack made contact it hit her blade with so much force that it instantaneously shattered her training katana into a thousand pieces that he immediately followed up with by sweeping his left foot underneath her causing her to fall on her back. As she started to try and get back to her feet David quickly placed his wooden katana at her throat and in a low yet calm none threatening tone said "Again you fought well but the match has been decided." As he and Jenny started to rise he looked over to notice Jenny start to cry and immediately asked "What's wrong Jenny was it something I did?"
"No it's just that the way you just fought was exactly how my father used to fight being able to tell a victor before the match was even over I just miss him so" she said falling to her knees sobbing.
"How did your father die it was peaceful I hope wasn't it?" asked David with concern.
"Unfortunately no it wasn't peaceful because his life was stolen from him by Cobra that man I mentioned yesterday" said Jenny desperately trying to hold back her tears.
"Yes I remember but what exactly happened I'm still a little confused on the subject" said David questionably.
"Well Cobra then and now basically has the entire city underneath his thumb and my father was always angering him because he caused the people to remain hopeful and to try and fight back against him" said Jenny taking a breath. "Well as you can guess Cobra did not like that one bit so he challenged my father to a duel to the death well my father accepted because one he was known around as the city's greatest fighter even though he was advanced in age and two he knew that if he could beat Cobra then he could free everyone from Cobras grasp once and for all."
"Um hm" said David listening carefully starting to piece the story together.
"The day of the challenge came and my father and a lot of other people including me showed up to back my father up well as he went up to shake hands with Cobra as it was tradition for him to do in a duel Cobra shook his hand and then quickly drew his sword and cut a small wound across my fathers arm saying that if he was so great a fighter then if he hadn't done it then he may never have been able to injure my father during the battle" continued Jenny pausing to take another breath of air. "Well my father just brushed it aside and they began to duel but with in a few minutes I could tell something was wrong because he was not fighting at his best and had already received a few more cuts from Cobras blades but that's when things turned for the worse" she said starting to sob even harder than before.
"Yes" said David trying to comfort her.
"Well that's when Cora swiftly and mercilessly stuck and took off my fathers sword hand and with that my father panting heavily fell to his knees in pain and defeat that's when Cobra asked my father for any last requests and my father in reply asked for only one thing which was that he not lay a finger on me or any of the other people and Cobra agreed and then…" said Jenny struggling to get the last bit of her sentence out.
"If you don't want to tell anymore you don't have t…" said David before Jenny stopped him.
"No you must know what happened because you need to know what you're getting into by working around here" said Jenny sobbing.
"Alright" said David.
"Well after my father gave his request he then stabbed my father through the heart with his blade that emerald green blade" said Jenny sobbing. As she said the words emerald green blade something inside of David's my just clicked as though he had heard of an emerald green blade before but he knew that that had to be impossible since he had just been created yesterday didn't it he thought to himself as Jenny started to speak again.
"With that Cobra left followed by the shocked people who had come to back up my father leaving me alone to handle things and Cobra did hold up to his promise by as he says because he has not laid a single finger of his on me or anyone else only his men have and that was not part of the request as he says and so every time anyone starts working for me they usually quit the very next day because of Cobra and then Cobra comes by and says how sorry he is that his men scared off another one of my employees and that he'll take care of them immediately" she said sobbing. "So if you want to go ahead and quit its fine because I know that this is not your battle to fight" she said with her head between her knees sobbing.
With that David gently put his finger beneath her chin and lifted up her face till her gaze met his and said "I know we just met yesterday and that you don't know me and that I don't know you but I will ay this which is that you don't have to feel alone anymore I'll be right here if you ever need anything alright?" She then in turn nodded her head in acknowledgement. "Alright then" he said standing and helping her to her feet and walking with her back to the front of the store. As they reached the front of the store he they both heard a loud growling noise and looking realized it had come from Jenny's stomach.
"Forgot to eat this morning" she said with a small chuckle as her stomach grumbled with hunger again.
"Hey how about I take you and get you something to eat" asked David thoughtfully.
"No, no don't worry about me I'm fine re…." she said as David cut her off abruptly by placing a finger over her mouth.
"I insist now where do you want to go my treat" he said quickly looking her in the eyes.
"Alright since you insist there is a small restaurant down the way that is owned by a good friend of mine and it would be best that you probably met her now instead of later" she said. "Once she finds out you are a fighter umm lets just say she will then have a unique way of greeting you every so often" she warned before picking up her coat.
"Oh boy" thought David to himself as he followed her out the door. They walked four blocks down the street when Jenny stopped abruptly.
"This is it" she exclaimed opening the door and walking in as David followed close behind. The restaurant was small but nice there was no one in the eatery yet since it was still early morning. Suddenly as David continued to look around he heard a woman shout.
"Hey Jenny haven't seen you in a while" shouted a woman coming out of the kitchen.
"Yeah I haven't been able to get out a lot lately" said Jenny in reply. As the woman got nearer she spotted David out of the corner of her eye standing silently.
"So who's your friend Jenny" asked the woman bluntly.
"Oh his name is David he's a new worker and a handy fighter" she said as she suddenly paled a little as she noticed a small grin appear across the woman's face. "WAIT…" was all she got out before the woman had launched a roundhouse kick at David's head. David was just barely able to get his arm up in time to block it and then turning his arm around gripped the woman's leg and shot a punch directly at her face but stopped as it got within a few centimeters of it.
"I'm guessing this is the friend you were warning me about back at the store" asked David glancing over at Jenny.
With a sigh of relief Jenny replied "Yes this is David I'd like you to meet Iman she likes to see how good a person is with how quick there reflexes are when she finds out that they are or claim to be a fighter."
"Uh huh well then nice to meet you Iman" said David as he let go of her leg and extended his hand out for a hand shake.
"Nice to meet you to and good reflexes Jenny here never could have blocked me that fast but then she also would try and impound me for it later" said Iman laughing. "So you are a new worker of hers hmm well hopefully he won't run away like the others" she said walking over and picking up a cup of coffee off the nearby counter.
"No he should be fine since he's already had one encounter with some of Cobra's goons and beat them without even trying" replied Jenny.
"Eh Cobra's goons are not much it's his higher up's that are the one's to worry about" said Iman sipping her coffee.
"Well one of them was one of Cobra's street leader's being Henry" she said.
"Henry huh eh I guess that's not too bad but you and me could do the same thing to that punk" she said taking another sip of coffee.
"David here also beat me in swordplay" said Jenny.
With that comment Iman choked on her coffee a little and once she got it down said "he beat you okay now that is an accomplishment."
"Nah she nearly had me there for a good part of it I just got lucky that's all" he said lying through his teeth.
"Yeah well anyway we came down here to get something to eat and if you remember correctly I have one free meal with a friend since I beat you in that training secession a couple of weeks back" said Jenny eyeing Iman.
"Crap oh well I had hoped you had forgot about that" said Iman shrugging. "So then your usual table" asked Iman as she grabbed two menus.
"Yes that would be fine" said Jenny as she walked behind Iman with David following along. Once they sat down Iman took there orders Jenny's being her usual while all David ordered was one egg with bacon. As David and Jenny sat there talking while waiting for there food the door at the front suddenly flew open as a man dressed in black business attire with pitch black sunglasses over his eyes came walking in. He was probably about a height of 6'5 his face was stern he looked to be at least 55 or 60 years of age his head was bald. Right behind him stood two other figures apparently body guards one a man the other a woman both wearing black suits as well. As the man looked around he suddenly noticed David and Jenny sitting at there table and grinned. When David saw that he immediately turned to Jenny to ask who he was only to notice that her gaze was fixated upon the man and she was starting to tremble with anger. As they sat there the man with a few brief steps crossed the floor and seated himself on the opposite side of the table.
"So how are you" the man asked sarcastically with a smile on his face looking at Jenny.
"What do you want…Cobra" said Jenny trying now to keep herself calm.
"Cobra" thought David to himself now on high alert now knowing who the man was. "He must be up to no good" he thought to himself watching every move Cobra made ready to defend should he try anything.
"Oh I had just heard about how some of my men broke the golden rule of mine and came to try and harm you so I thought to come and make sure you were okay" said Cobra snickering. Looking over he noticed David finally and frowning said "So this must be the brave man who protected you how quaint."
"Yes I am and what of it to you Cobra" said David in defense.
"Humph no reason I was just making sure and wanting to thank you for making sure my men didn't hurt her" he said scowling.
"Oh don't worry I'll be sure that if your men ever try it again that I'll give them the message to get lost Again" snapped David.
"Well then seeing that you're safe now, I guess I'll be leaving" he said getting up still frowning at David. "So good day" and turning away said under his voice "For now" as he started to chuckle to himself. As the door to the restaurant closed jenny immediately burst into tears with David trying to comfort her.
"Alright food is do…" Iman cut short noticing Jenny crying as she came out of the kitchen with there orders. "What happened" she asked rushing over next to Jenny.
"Would the name Cobra explain it" said David looking at Iman.
"Yeah that would so that snake was in my restaurant err dang if only I had been out here I would have given him something to worry about" relied Iman leaning down next to Jenny. "In this condition you'd better get her home and get her to lye down and rest I'll put you food in a to go box while you get her calmed down a little so she can actually walk" she said cursing under her breath for not being in the room when Cobra was there as she walked away.
"Legion is this them" asked Durisan looking at four pods suspended in the air that where radiating an eerie green illumines light.
"Yes this is project Omega but what is the point not even my former master had enough power to reform the body's of these four" argued Legion.
Grabbing Legion by his neck Durisan lifted him into the air and looking him in the eyes angrily said "If you remember correctly it was me who got rid of your former master without even breaking a sweat so I'd watch what you say if I were you" and dropping Legion held out his left arm as four bolts of dark energy shot out hitting the four pods.
"It just isn't possible to do it" thought legion as he rose up rubbing his neck all the while watching as Durisan poured his energy into the pods.
"There that should do" said Durisan as he brought back his arm cutting off the flow of energy.
"It can't be and yet it is" thought Legion as he looked upon the pods that now radiated a red illumines light. Suddenly with a loud hiss of steam the pods opened causing Legion to stumble backwards in surprise.
"Not scared now are we Legion" asked Durisan making light of his cowardice.
"N, N, No I am not scared" said Legion trembling as four beings stepped forth out of the pods.
Chuckling to him self Durisan walked forward and looking at the four thought to him self "And so the scales now lean in my favor." "Now go forth and put fear into the heart of all" he said as the dim halls of the castle echoed with his laughter.
As Jenny lay in her bed looking out her window at the night sky she thought back to earlier that day in anger at how she let just seeing Cobra get to her like that. As she continued to think a sudden melody broke her out of her trance as she sat up listening to the music. "Where is that coming from" she thought to herself rising slipping on her slippers. As she exited her room she thought to her self now as she continued down the hallway "where ever it's coming from and whoever is playing it knows what they are doing because this music is beautiful." As she reached the stairs she realized that the music seemed to be coming from the roof and so quickly and quietly she made her way up the stairwell that lead to the roof. As she approached the door leading out onto the roof she saw that it was partially cracked and taking a peek looked out of the crack to see if she could spot anyone. As her vision came back to her once her eyes had focused and gotten used to the dark she noticed a lone figure sitting down at the far end of the roof playing a small flute. "Who is wait that's David" she thought as she realized that it was David and so knowing it to be safe made her way out onto the roof and over to him. As she reached him she said "that music you are playing it's beautiful."
"Oh Jenny I didn't realize you had heard me playing I'm sorry if I woke you" he said looking up blushing a little and also startled that he had not noticed her coming towards him.
"No, no it's fine I couldn't get to sleep anyways and I just happened to hear you so I decided to come see where it was coming from" she said sitting down next to him. "I didn't realize you play an instrument you're very good at it" she said looking at him smiling.
"Yeah I play a little and thanks" he said blushing again hoping she didn't notice.
"It's very relaxing" she said shivering as a gust of wind hit her.
Noticing her shivering David thinking quickly took off his coat and laid it on her shoulders saying "here you need this more than I do.'
Taking the coat a pulling tight around her she replied "Thanks and this may be stupid but umm would you mind playing some more I really liked it."
"As you wish" he said smiling as he started to play again. As Jenny sat there listening to the music she looked at the night sky as it seemed to dance in tune with the music and slowly but surely she started to drift off into slumber and then before she knew it had fallen asleep to the melody that filled the air. Once he was for sure she was asleep he put away his flute and carefully and gently as not to wake her lifted her up in his arms and then in a small flash of light spread his wings. With two quick flaps he had propelled them in the air where the hovered a second before he turned and made his way through the air and down into her room through her open window. Once he had landed, he first transformed back into his human guise as his wings once more vanished and then carefully walking took Jenny over to her bed and laid her down and pulled the covers over her. As he continued to look at her slumber peacefully he quickly prayed asking "Lord please watch over her and keep her safe and give me strength to so that I can protect her and keep her from harm in Jesus name I pray amen." Turning and walking out he quietly closed her door behind him self and walked back to his room.
As he opened the door to his room and stepped inside a sudden uneasiness swept over him as he thought to him self "something's coming" and walking over to his window hopped out transformed once more and took to the skies. Unbeknownst to him as he flew above the city patrolling the skies each and every move he made was being watched by four dark mysterious figures who sat watching him atop the empire state building hidden in the shadows. As the morning rays beamed into Jenny's room she suddenly wakened from her sleep at the sound of screaming in the streets.
"What's going on out there" she said to her self as she jumped out of bed and rushed to the window just in time to see to her horror the Empire state building come crashing down as dust rose into the sky. As she continued to look she suddenly felt a gust of wind pass by her and looking up saw David fly by overhead heading for the scene of the commotion.
"What happened and how could I not sense it before this happened" he thought to him self as he rushed up to what had until a moment ago been the Empire State Building landing a little distance away from it. As the dust began to settle down to where he could see he noticed four armored figures walking towards him through the dust. Unsheathing his sword and preparing himself for anything he shouted over to the four "Who are you?"
As the dust finally settled the four figures stood before him when the being clad is bright silver armor answered saying "Who are we why we are nothing more than a nightmare reborn."
