Description In the early months of 2019, I bought a new computer. My computer before it was nearly a decade old and somewhat outdated at this point, and since I now had the funds I went ahead and ordered one. This new computer worked remarkably well; I moved all my files - A majority being raw art files - from my old computer to the new one and set up shop, and I was pleased with my decision.

Unfortunately, since 2020 is the year that keeps on giving, my new computer decided to gradually break down starting July 10. I honestly thought it was just a one time thing...And I STILL thought this even when it continued crashing over the next few days. That is until July 15, where it finally gave out and stopped responding to any attempts at starting back up, including factory resetting.

As a result, I lost every single file stored on the new computer. Now, one might think "don't you still have files on your old computer?" You see, I was not thinking very rationally at the time, and so once I finished moving my files, I permanently deleted them from the old computer. And to add to this ineptitude I did not once consider, in the whole year I had this new computer, to back up my files in any way in case something bad happened.

In short, I lost, among other projects, nearly a decade of raw art tiles. Not just art I officially posted to my accounts, but also several sketches and concepts that will probably never be seen again.
Surprisingly, I'm not really that upset over it. Sure it might've screwed with my capacity to make art for the rest of this year, but I'll move on. Plus it gives me a chance to start over on my project ideas, I guess. And since I actually have art posted on this very account, I can safely say that not everything is truly lost. It all works out somehow.

Anyway, I temporarily moved back to my old computer for the time being. Then I bought a NEW new computer back in September that works just as fine as the old new one and I've been doing fine since. AND I've made efforts to back up my files often, in the event I get screwed over again. And as you finish up reading this extensive explanatory context to a comic designed with comedic intent, I hope you walk away with the capacity to not make the same mistakes I did.

For you see, the lesson here is: Don't buy a refurbished computer with excellent specs on cheap - it was like $130. The one I'm now using doesn't have as high of specs and still came to $430 - A LOT more than the refurbished model, but at least it's factory new.

Oh, and regularly back up and store your files somewhere so you don't lose years of art history. Don't be like me.
