Description
Syrine hurt everywhere, laying on a table with their local medi-bot standing over her. Her chassis was open, the four sparks glowing brightly. Her digits scratched at the metal table, her voice module letting out pained screams as the medi-bot did his best to separate the smaller sparks from her larger one.Gears paced the small room leading into the same room Syrine was in. He couldn't help think he did something wrong in the energy transfer, did he give too much or too less? His blue optics shone with worry, biting the back of his digit out of habit. He kept glancing at the window of the door, seeing Syrine in the most pain he's ever seen her in.
His spark ached to see his mate in such pain, he didn't know how much pain it would have costed her when they decided on having sparklings. He had heard stories of carriers dying in spark-birth, and that terrified him to the Pit. He heard the loudest scream he had ever heard come from Syrine, looking over to see her back arched up though the medi-bot's frame blocked anything else.
The screaming stopped, and he was relieved to see her panting and not lifeless. The medi-bot was out of sight, though Syrine's optics moved to the other side of the room and a smile grew on her faceplate. The medi-bot walked back over, and when he opened the door to let Gears into the room the mech's optics and spark glowed to see three little sparklings resting in Syrine's arms.
Gears entered the room, the medi-bot leaving for a moment. He approached the table, moving slow as if he was scared to wake the sparklings. He got down on his knee to be at level with his new family, smiling softly. Syrine's loving optics looked over at him, a wide smile on her faceplate. "We did it, we have a family." She purred to him.
Gears looked away from the sparklings to look into her optics, seeing the warm glow of everlasting love. Every time he looked into her light green optics he remembered why he fell in love with her, she was perfect. His family was perfect. He nodded, nuzzling his helm with hers and kissed the side of her helm. "Our own family, three beautiful sparklings and a wonderful mate. I must be the luckiest mech on Cybertron."
"Only if I'm the luckiest femme." She said back. Gears reached his servo forward slowly, his digits curling and his pointer digit being held out. The sparkling on the right felt the new presence of her sire, her optics coming online and she blinked. Gears's spark melted, she had Syrine's greet optics. Her servos reached for his and her digits closed around his larger digit.
Gears chuckled, smiling fondly at the little sparkling. He noticed movement from the one closest to Syrine's chassis on the left, seeing her raise her helm and online her optics. She had his own blue optics, reaching out to his servo and he outstretched his small digit out and she grabbed hold of it. He looked expectantly at the third.
No movement came from that one, keeping his frame curled up in a tight ball and optics not coming online. "Perhaps he's just a bit late." Syrine said, her voice going on edge. Gears searched in his spark for the smaller third presence he felt, but only felt only two small energy links. His spark sank, his smile dropping.
Syrine's optics began leaking with energon tears, "I swore I felt him, he was alive!" She said, her voice breaking. The link between his spark and hers throbbed with sadness, and knowing the third sparkling they were going to raise alongside his sisters would never wake tore him apart. "The break must have been too much, he couldn't thrive." Gears said gently.
The sparklings looked up at their carrier as they felt their own link with her flow with sadness. They drew their servos away from his, looking up at Syrine with wide optics. Gears looked at the dead sparkling, standing up and slowly and gently curled his digits around the cold frame. He picked him up with the most care he could, the frame's helm slumping to the side.
He clenched his dentals together tightly, leaning his helm down and lightly nuzzled the small helm. He looked up when the medi-bot walked in, the one who had delivered the sparklings. The medi-bot looked at the lifeless frame in Gears's servos and sighed, shaking his helm before holding out his servos to take the small frame away.
Once Gears gave him the frame, it was put down gently in a half cylinder shaped container. A thin panel closed over the frame. Gears clenched his servos in a fist and moved forward, grabbing the medi-bot's chassis and slammed his back against the wall. "What the Pit happened?!" He demanded, "Why did our son not wake up? Why?!"
The medi-bot put his servos up, "The energy absence of the carrier's spark when pulled away snuffed his spark, I had no control over it." The medi-bot stated calmly. Gears growled low in his chassis, pulling a fist back before he heard his mate. "Gears stop! It's not his fault." Syrine's sharp command rang through his processor.
He stood there, contemplating whether he should or not before throwing the punch. The glass of the window in the door broke when he fist went through it, Gears staying there before he hesitantly pulled back and sighed. He let the medi-bot go, in which he reached forward and put a servo on Gears's shoulder.
He didn't say anything, not sure what to say before pulling back and picked up the container from the small table he had put his other tools on and walked out. Syrine looked at Gears, "Two survived, we are blessed with that." She said. Gears nodded, walking back over to his family and leaned down and kissed the sparkling's helm in turn before kissing Syrine's helm and straightening.
"No matter what happens, I will protect this family with my spark." He said. Syrine gave him a soft smile, though it was weak. "I know you will. I love you so much." She said quietly, in which he tried to replicate her smile with a nod. "I love you too, all three of you."
