Description
You tagged along with the Hamada brothers to the convention that would admit Hiro into the Institute of Technology where you and Tadashi go. You knew that Hiro would have no problem getting in. You didn't like to admit it but he was way smarter than you and his microbots were better than anything you've ever made...well, you only heard from Tadashi what they did. But still, they sound pretty amazing. You couldn’t wait for Hiro’s presentation…just as long as he will be able to keep it together. You offered your best support, along with Tadashi. Before the presentation and during. You would give him a thumbs up every time he would look at your direction, seeing his nerves. And, not to your surprise, Hiro’s presentation of his ingenious (you loved that he made a freaking tower out of them and was able to walk upside down) microbots smoothly once his jitters went away. You and Tadashi met him once he got off of the stage, you ruffling his hair. “Good job, squirt! I bet Professor Callaghan will give that acceptance letter in a heartbeat! Right, Tadashi?” You met Tadashi during the convention that got you and him into the IoT and three years later, you were best friends. With both him and way-too-smart-for-his-own-good younger brother, Hiro.
Tadashi nodded in agreement with you. He fist-bumped Hiro. “Yeah, you got this in the bag, Hiro. You made the one I gave look terrible.”
“You said it, not me,” Hiro said behind a laugh. He suddenly stopped, his body tensing up. You raised an eyebrow, about to ask him what’s wrong until he blurted out, “Mr. Callaghan!”
You and Tadashi turned to see your professor standing behind the two of you. The two of you stepped to the side, letting the professor get to Hiro. You and Tadashi eyed each other, smiling, to see the familiar envelope hidden behind Callaghan’s back. Your smiles became even larger as you watched him present it to Hiro, who looked like he was going to poop his pants. “I will see you with your brother in class, Hiro. Welcome to IoT.” he said to Hiro before walking away.
Hiro couldn’t believe the words he had heard. To make sure that he wasn’t dreaming, he ripped the envelope open, cracking the red wax seal, and pealed out the paper inside. His eyes widened and his grin was so large, you could count all of his teeth. He shoved it in yours and Tadashi’s face. “Look! Look! I got in!”
Tadashi placed a hand on his brother’s shoulder, shaking him in excitement. “Can’t wait to see you outsmart me and (Name). Go show Aunt Cass.”
“Okay!”
You softly giggled as you watched him run off to his aunt. You tried to hold your growing laughter when you saw, and heard Aunt Cass scream in joy, dancing around, showing it to rest of your group and singing, “That’s my boy! That is my boy!”
Tadashi looked over to you, chuckling to see you trying to suppress your laughter. “Aunt Cass is always overly excited.”
“I’ve known her for three years and it still gets me every time,” you admitted. You nodded your head to them. “Come on. We better get over there before she chokes Hiro to death.”
Tadashi squinted at his aunt, who was hugging Hiro and swinging him around. “He does look a little purple…” He brought his arm around your shoulder, which made your face turn red as Hiro’s shirt and your heart sky rocket. “Better go save him.”
“O-Okay…” you squeaked. In all honesty, you had the largest crush in the history of crushes on Tadashi. The crush has probably been around since the day you met. But you thought that he liked Honey Lemon so you never told him how you truly felt. Plus, you thought that he and Honey would make a cute couple, no matter how much you would rather take Honey’s place in your assumption.
When you got to the group, Aunt Cass shouted, “Follow me to the Lucky Cat Café! This calls for a celebration!
“Ah, nothing’s better than free food!” Fred commented as you all burst out of the doors .
As you went down the steps, you suddenly remembered something. “Oh, shoot!”
Tadashi sent you a puzzled look. “What?”
“I was gonna ask Professor Callaghan if I could have access to the plasma and elements hall…”
“Can’t that wait until tomorrow?” Tadashi asked. He motioned at his happy brother. “He’ll be pretty upset if you don’t show up to his celebration party.”
You shook your head. “No, it can’t. I was going to the lab after the presentation, to work on my force field watch, remember?” You rolled up your sleeve, revealing the device that looked like a normal electronic watch to Tadashi. You rolled it back down. “I promise that I’ll show up for your brother’s party, Tadashi. I’ll go to the lab after that…I’ll just be a bit late. Is that okay? I don’t want your brother be mad at me for being mad at me for being late over not even showing up because you know he will do that.”
Tadashi thought for a long moment, debating in his head. He let out a short sigh, “I suppose. I’ll tell Hiro.”
“Thanks.” You watched them go off, Cass taking the Fed, GoGo, Wasabi, and Honey Lemon to her car while Tadashi took Hiro to the bridge, probably to tell him that you were going to be late and how proud he is of him for getting into Nerd School. You turned on your heel and reentered the building, looking for your professor. You were puzzled that you couldn’t find him anywhere…you didn’t see him leave the building so you knew for a fact that he was still in the building. “Professor Callaghan? Professor? I need to ask you a question—“
You froze, the smell hitting your nose. Your eyes began to water from the irritation. You slowly turned around and your eyes widened. “Fire!” You yelled on the top of your lungs, alerting the people in the building. You ran to the fire alarm, breaking the glass with your elbow and pulled down the white lever to sound the alarm.
You yelped in shock and fear when you pulled down the lever, the small concentration of flame that was in the corner suddenly expanded to the whole floor and going through the vents and catching the upper levels as well, as if the lever triggered the event. The alarm blared over the panicked cries of the people running out. You headed for the exit near you, but you jumped backwards when the orange flames jumped up, creating a wall of fire between you and the door. You spun around and ran for the front entrance, seeing that it was the only option that you had left. You skidded to a halt when one of the booths near the entrance collapsed down, blocking your path. You could feel the heat from the close-quarter flames go through your fake flannel jacket. You tried to find a way out but everywhere you looked, there was fire. All you could think of to scream was, “Help!” You could feel the smoke fill your lungs, making you choke and cough, trying to get any uncontaminated air into your lungs. You began to feel light headed, as you kept calling out for help, the cry getting weaker each time. You collapsed to the floor, your hand going around your throat as you wheezed and choked on the black smoke that floated around you.

Tadashi’s head shot up at the sound of the alarm, making him stop in the middle of his sentence. His eyes widened in fear to see the building that held the expo on fire. “(Name)!” He burst into a sprint for the building, that was a quarter of a mile away from where he was with his brother.
“Tadashi, wait!” Hiro called after him, running after him.
Tadashi looked over the crowd of people, trying to find your familiar face among them all. His heart nearly stopped when he couldn’t find you anywhere in the crowd. He slowly looked at the building that was lighting up the night sky, the terrible realization hitting him like the Titanic hitting the iceburg. He bolted for the building.
He jerked when an iron grip went around his wrist. He glanced over his shoulder to see his brother, his light brown eyes filled with fear. “Tadashi, don’t go in there!”
“(Name) is in there!” Tadashi told him. He yanked his wrist free. “I’m going to find her.”
“But—!” Tadashi ran off before Hiro could finish his sentence. “Tadashi!”
Tadashi ignored the last plea from his younger brother, all his focus on the building and you. He entered through the wall of flames that blocked the entrance to the building, surprised that his clothes didn’t catch on fire. He cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled, “(Name)! (Name), can you hear me?! (Name)…!” His head snapped over to the side when he heard the sound of violent coughing. His heart racing and his blood roaring in his ears, he dashed to where the sound was coming from and he followed it like his life depended on it. It sort of did, in a way. He couldn’t live without you. Period. Because he fell in love with you the first time he saw you.
Through the thick black smoke and the wall of flickering flames, he saw you on your hands and knees, hacking on the poisonous air. He found a path to get to you safely and he brought himself beside, a hand going onto your back. “(Name)!”
You looked up to him. “Ta…Tadashi…?” you asked between stressed wheezes.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m right here, (Name)…” Tadashi helped you up to your feet, putting your arm behind neck to keep up upright. “Let’s get you out of here…”
You looked over his shoulder and your eyes widened. “Tadashi, look out!” You shoved him behind you and twisted the watch on your wrist, holding it out vertically away from you. Just when the purple shield came out of the watch and went around the two of you, a large gust of flames blasted against it. You saw from afar a gas pipe coming undone. You and Tadashi felt the building shake from the shockwave that was produced by the explosion, you almost falling over because of your weakness. Tadashi caught you and supported you so you could stay standing so the force field could stay active. The two of you watched the inventions fall to the down, fueling the fire that rushed around the bubble you made around both of you. It seemed to go on forever, the orange light show that swirled and stuck onto the shield, a forever too long for you. You could barely concentrate, which was essential to keep the force field alive.
You collapsed deeper into Tadashi’s arms once the flames that were produced from the explosion, leaving only the previous flames, had died down around you, all the energy drained out of you. The force field shut down as you could hardly keep your eyes open. You even hardly noticed that Tadashi picked up, bridal style. You looked up to him under half lidded eyes to see him looking down to you, worry and concern easily shown in his eyes and face. Your eyes drifted up to the support beams up above. Your tired eyes widened to see the beams suddenly shifted. You shakily pointed up.
Tadashi followed your point and his eyes widened in fear. He ran through the still existing flames that surrounded you and him, trying to get out as the beams started to come crashing down. He yelled when he tripped over one of the inventions that was left to die in the fire and came crashing down. He picked himself up and panicked to see that you were no longer in his arms. He frantically looked around, trying to find you. His eyes finally landed on you, seeing that you were thrown ahead of him because of his trip. His eyes narrowed when he saw dust sprinkle on top of your limp form. They trailed the dust up to the ceiling and he gasped. He scrambled up to his feet. “(Name)!” He got to you and tried to get you up but you didn’t budge. He saw that you were unconscious, making his internal panic become visible
His head shot up when he heard something snap and groan menacingly above you and him. His mouth gaped open to see a beam become crashing down towards them. He ripped off your force field producing watch off of your wrist and out it on his own, activating it. He groaned in pain when he felt the weight of the large steel beam bounce off of the field, making the shield dig deep into the ground and almost had the force field crush Tadashi. The force was too much for him to take, the force field evaporating in thin air. He collapsed to the ground next to you, trying to catch his breath. His mind was becoming fuzzy. He reached out for you, his hand gently landing on your cheek and caressing it with his thumb. The smoke was getting to him; he could feel himself getting weaker by the second thanks to the lack of oxygen. With all the strength he had left in him, he dragged himself closer to you and bringing you close to him, your head cradled between his arms that wrapped around you weakly and leaned into his chest.
Tadashi kissed your hair, whispering to you before he joined you into the land of unconsciousness, “I love you…(Name)…”

Hiro watched the firemen enter the still burning building as the rest of the fire fighters tried to tame it with their hoses. He was biting his nails, his heart going over a thousand miles per hour. Aunt Cass was holding him close to her, while she did the same with her other hand. He prayed for his brother and for you to be alright. His eyes widened when he saw a few coming back out after what seemed like an eternity to him. He took a sharp intake of air when he saw the extra two, filthy with black ash, forms being careered by a couple of the firemen. He instantly recognized them to be Tadashi and you. Despite the line of policemen that separated him and the rest of the crowd from the burning building, he squeezed his way through and bolted for the two of you. “Tadashi! (Name)!”
When he finally got to the two of you, the ambulance workers that met the firemen that carried you and Tadashi had put breathing masks on the two of you and treating the two for all the smoke that was stuck in the pairs lungs. Hiro saw the black air get placed into a separate container, relieved that they invented the machine that removes smoke from fire victims’ lungs only a few months ago. A lady who worked in with the ambulance noticed Hiro, she turned and asked him, “Do you know them?”
Hiro nodded like crazy. “Uh-huh…that’s my brother Tadashi and his friend, (Name).”
She sent him a smile. “Well, I can tell you that it’s safe to say that your brother and his friend are going to live. It’s a miracle; no one could have survived that explosion in one piece. They’re lucky.”
Hiro looked around her. “Can I…?”
She stepped to the side, “You may until we get the gurneys over here, okay?”
“Thank you.” Hiro rushed over to the side of his brother, nudging him. “Tadashi!”
Tadashi’s eyes slowly opened, a smile forming under the green mask that helped him breath. “Hiro…”
“Are you okay?” Hiro asked frantically.
Tadashi nodded slowly. “Yeah…I’m fine…” his eyes widened. “(Name)…where’s (Name)?”
His heart soared when he heard your voice say, “I’m over here…”
Tadashi’s smile became larger, a estatic chuckle coming from him. He gripped onto her hand as he cried tears of relief and joy. “(Name)…oh, (Name), you’re okay!”
“So are you,” you said behind your own smile. Your cheeks burned when you felt his arms go around you. You felt your breathing mask get lifted up and you felt Tadashi’s lips connect to yours. You stared at him, shocked until slowly your eyes fluttered shut and you kissed him back. You heard Hiro groan in disgust. You both quickly ran out of air and pulled away from each other to put your masks on. You stuttered to him, “I…I-I thought you liked H-Honey…”
Tadashi shook his head. “No. I like you…no, (Name), I love you.”
“I love you, too…” you whispered. Slowly, you scooted closer to Tadashi, leaning into his chest to listen to his gentle heartbeat. You felt his arm go around you. “Thank you…for saving me.”
“You don’t have to say that, (Name)…I would risk my own life, even sacrifice myself, if it meant saving you…you’re the reason why I live, (Name). And…if you disappeared…I wouldn’t know how to live. Tadashi rested his chin on your ash-filled hair. “I love you, (Name). I would do anything for you..."

There was book reference? Where? (I feel so stupid asking this...)
I KNOW! WHY DISNEY WHY.
This was literally what happened during the process of making the film (or at least my head cannon):
Director: "We must take all the feels...and throw them at Hiro Hamada"
Executive Director: "Yes! All of the feels! AND we should have everyone come back except for Tadashi! "
Character Director: "I second that notion!"
