Another day coming to a close, having spent it in the southern end of this park. In the foreground is Branch Brook Lake, which numerous visitors come by each day.

At the end of March this year, I made my first ever visit to one of the largest urban parks in the United States, with the largest collection of cherry blossom trees: Branch Brook Park in Newark New Jersey. It was an unusual and troublesome time: Covid-19 was engulfing the country and damaging everyday lives. There was a lot of uncertainty with what will happen next - to me it was either now or never to go see the blossoms this year. A week after I went, the state parks were shut down. I thought it was well worth the risks going to visit the park. There was red and white in the flowers everywhere, and despite being surrounded by a large city, one can find a friendly and peaceful atmosphere.
