And ever seek the hidden opportunities
To push yet further the frontiers of intimacy,
Disciplining my soul's secret skin
To strive for such perfection of transparency
That you, beholding in my inmost parts
Devotion spoken oath would but dilute,

Instead will let your glance return assent,
Each day become anew my true companion,
Practicing the many arts of love
Until the pulses of our souls and bodies
Move in such uncanny synchrony
That even strangers first encountering
Will recognize at once that you and I
Have lovers been since life itself began.
