Really like the opposition of the classical-style figure study and the deformed, mutated head. And I fancy the theme of the futility of contemplation and of doomed beings burying themselves in thought to the extent of bodily deformations. I also try to depict this once in a while (e.g. [link] ).
The most fascinating example of mocking profound contemplation that I have seen thus far is in one movie by Werner Herzog - "Even Dwarfs Started Small". There is a moment in all the craziness, when one dwarf sits down on a chair and contemplates. Very striking and memorable scene.
Anyways...
As always - very well drawn and thematically interesting and provocative.
