I've made a little tutorial on how I go from grayscale to color. It's not the process I use all the time, as I start with color more often, but it is something I'd like to experiment with more. The tutorial misses some steps, like adding mid tones and occlusion shadows. I probably should make a more comprehensive tutorial later.
