warning: super self indulgent, headcanon territory ahead:

the first time Jack undressed for Bob, this issue did not come up, perhaps because Bob was too intent upon simple violence to notice. And Jack had done his best to close his legs, hide himself as much as possible, and thought that since Bob didn't say anything or act differently, that he simply didn't notice what he was...missing.

But one night as they made out in Bob's filthy prison cell, Bob undressed him and ran his fingers over the scars on his chest, telling without words that he recognizes them, that he knows what they mean. In the cold, unforgiving light of the morning sun through prison bars, all Jack's scars are visible, revealing more of himself than he has told most others, certainly not his fellow guards. His boss knows, because it's on his paperwork, and if he judges he keeps it to himself, mostly.

Bob promises him no chivalry. No different treatment, no extra softness now that he knows, and he's true to his word. If anything, he's rougher than usual. But he does step in a bit more than usual to protect his pet guard against other inmates who would wish to do harm to him.
