My summer is SO unusually busy, hehe!
First some weeks in Spain with my eldest daughter and her family, then a week in the Norwegian Jotunheimen and Dovrefjell (mountain ranges) with some dear friends, and now I'm back home after some weeks in Trøndelag (Mid Norway) with my 2 younger daughters and their husbands!
Luckily we didn't have more than 33 degrees in Spain! And actually we have had the same temperatures here in Norway too! So perfect!
I hadn't traveled at all until these recent years, so I'm so very grateful for this summer!
And how has your summer been until now? Have you been traveling and found inspiration for new beautiful paintings? I hope so, my friend!!

I probably told you already I had very concrete plans to come to Norway. Unfortunately I had to cancel that journey onl a couple of days before leaving because of a sudden problem in my back (was blocked completely, extremely painful). It would have been a road trip of 3 weeks, with my volkswagen camping van. One of the aims was Jotunheimen (so I can imagine something about what you write). I would have travelled mainly in the west of your country, not further than the beginning of Mid Norway (your beautiful country is so terrible long 
It seems Norway will be for the future...

I do hope you will be able to visit us later!! Jotunheimen and Dovrefjell were truly breathtaking! I had never been there before, you know. I've taken lots of photos, for remembering! And in Spain too of course!
(I've got severe PTSD, so my memory is "a little" damaged)
And, perhaps I can visit the French Alps sometimes in the future....I would love that!
But how is your back now, Dirk? I really hope you have got a total recovery!!

The colour and shading seem to be much more deeply defined in this painting than in most of your previous works, and it works so well. I know that you have said that you accept criticism as well as praise but this is definitely one of your best works to date!
