Description
Today I'm doing another one of my "Sketches" that I haven't done in a while. This time, it's for Solar Flare from Plants vs. Zombies Heroes! Now, I love the PVZ franchise. Most of my love for this simple little series about anthropomorphic plants fighting the undead stemmed from playing Plants vs Zombies 2 - that's how I found out about this series. I've only ever beaten it twice, but man did I fall in love with it! The gameplay was simple, but fun enough to keep you interested. And with the unique zombies they always threw at you, you never know which plants you'll need to bring to survive the level.
And sure, while the game was fun, there were some major flaws showing. Namely, there was a major difficulty spike compared to the first game (which is single-handedly the reason why I despise Big Wave Beach) and the introduction of microtransactions. Of course, being a mobile game developed by EA meant that flaws were shining through them. I actually just got back to playing the game back in July last year and beat the game, but I haven't touched it in the past few months simply because I've lost interest. And constantly grinding for the new plants wasn't gonna help matters either (IMO the animation for the new plants look cheap and unfinished).
After that, I've found myself with some mixed interactions with this franchise. I managed to beat the first game, played through the (relatively worse) DS version, didn't play the Garden Warfare trilogy because we didn't have an X-Box or Steam, got confused by the existence of Great Wall, Adventures, Online, All Stars, and 2's Chinese version, didn't really care for the comics, and PVZ 3 is still in Development Hell. (Wait, what're you telling me they made a discontinued educational version of PVZ 2?) Actually, when I think about it, the franchise has been dormant for four years at this point.
Of course, I liked PVZ Heroes for it's unique hero and villain designs, but I sucked at this type of turn-based RPG, and I just stopped playing through, like, the third level or so. That didn't mean these designs got removed along with them! So in honor of PVZ 2's 10th anniversary, I decided to draw this in anticipation!

Edit: Sorry about how I drew Solar Flare's thumb up in Sketch 2. It's hard to draw these plants' limbs when they're just stems.
