Riverlore is apparently a "French Second Empire style" mansion located in what used to be known as Cairo’s “Millionaire’s Row”. It was built in 1865 by Cairo businessman and riverboat captain William Parker Halliday.

Riverlore was built with a river boat theme. There is a glassed-in pilothouse with a sliding hatch that serves as the entrance to the roof. The roof was designed to be flat and resemble the deck of a steamboat. Captain Halliday lived at the Riverlore for 34 years.
